BiSAFE Ltd. is a private company established in 1993. Its activity is focused on reliability and lifetime assessment of pressure vessels and piping, especially in power and chemical industry. BiSAFE Ltd. provides comprehensive assessments and inspection optimisation of boiler components such as superheaters, boiler drums etc., as well as assessments of long pipelines and similar facilities

The assessments are based on well-established procedures. BiSAFE Ltd. is a registered purchaser of:

  • BEGL – R5 (An Assessment Procedure for the High Temperature Response of Structures, Issue 3, British Energy)
  • BEGL – R6 (Assessment of the Integrity of Structures Containing Defects, R6 - Revision 4, British Energy)
  • API579 (Fitness-for-Service, API Recommended Practice 579, American Petroleum Institute)

BiSAFE Ltd. provides for pressure vessels and piping:

  • Data processing of operational parameters
    Data recorded by controlling systems are processed in order to determine loading spectra. The data processing is performed by a computer program which is based on ASTM E 1049 - 85 (Rainflow counting method).
  • Stress analysis of piping systems
    A computer system PPS-GaP, used in BiSAFE Ltd., makes possible to determine deformation of long pipelines and calculate forces and moments in an arbitrary point of piping system. The calculations allows for thermal expansion, internal pressure and weight of piping.
  • Finite element method calculations
    FEM calculations are performed by the system PMD (Package for Machine Design), which is distributed by Vamet Ltd. The program is still under development in which Czech Academy of sciences participates. This software makes possible to solve following problems:
    • Stationary and non-stationary heat transfer
    • Elastic-plastic 2D and 3D stress analysis
    • Determination of stress intensity factor
    • Analysis of stress redistribution caused by creep, calculation of creep strain and creep damage
    • Contact of bodies
  • Probabilistic assessment of reliability and lifetime
    This field covers:
    • Probabilistic calculation of time to crack initiation
    • Risk based optimisation of inspections
    • Analysis of failure sequence
  • Integrity assessment
